LIVING WATER

"If any man is thirsty, let him come to me and drink. He who believes in Me, as the Scripture said, From his innermost being shall flow rivers of living water." (John 7:37-38)

This morning I was returning from running a few errands in Tel Aviv and the drive up to Ariel this time of year is beautiful with the grass being a dark green and the olive trees putting on new leaves. The olive tree is similar to the live oak in that the new leaves push off the old leaves. The shepherds have no problem in finding plenty of grass for their animals. I have seen more than once an Arab on his donkey talking on his cell phone. What a country to live in to see such a diversity of life styles.

Can you imagine how the love of Christ was pushing this Man to desire to pour out living water on all those who are thirsty? He has not changed and we are living in a day and age when we are seeing a new thirst in those who make up this land. Jesus tells us that we are in for a blessing if we are willing to give a drink to one of His brethren. Let me give you the verses out of Isaiah that Jesus was quoting from in John 7.

"For I will pour out water on him who is thirsty and streams on the dry ground; I will pour out My Spirit on your offspring and My blessing on your descendants; And they will spring up among the grass Like poplars by streams of water." (Isaiah 44:3-4)

I have two poplars here on the mini golf that were less than six foot tall three years ago and now they are close to 40 feet tall. I give them plenty of water and they are a confirmation for this passage out of Isaiah. God speaks over and over about water and He has designed us to be a well of living water for those around us to take a drink.

On my trip back to Ariel this morning I found myself praying for different ones and the Lord brought one woman to my mind to pray for especially and showed me that she is getting real close to jumping off the deep end into the very heart of God. When I drove up to our house would you believe it when I tell you that this woman was in my back yard. She doesn't even live in Ariel and it is the first time she has been at our house since we returned from the states a month ago. She lives in a Jewish settlement that overlooks the Jordan valley.

She was with another friend who stopped by and so we had a table full of folks for lunch. I asked if anyone had a song and we began to sing these lines. There's a river of life flowing out of me, makes the lame to walk and the blind to see. Opens prison doors and sets the captives free. There's a river of life flowing out of me. God is so awesome and He blessed us with His presence in a very tangible way.

After lunch I was visiting with this woman that had come by and I was sharing with her the wonderful news that we are not talking about religion but about a Man and a personal relationship with Him. I told her that the only thing that would change if she embraced this Man was her heart. She would still be Jewish, which is a very big issue. When a Jewish person thinks about what it means or looks like to be a believer, they generally think of a Greek Orthodox or Catholic and they basically just see another religion.

I pray that you have set your roots deep into the heart of God where you will be watered from an endless source of water and you will be like that tree that brings forth its fruit in its season. It is in this posture that whatever you do, it will prosper. Lord, cause us to come to your river today and drink and drink and drink. Glory!

Thanks for being on my list and may you have a blessed day and week in Him. Homer Owen
